Being a bad blogger: the stories of multiple trips to wales, bristol, and Greenman. yikes.
My summer has not consited of the big global adventures that people my age are supposed to undertake, but i'll hide my lack of organisational skills with a facade of bouycotting air travel, believable no? Probably not, no. However I have had an active time, just sporadically distributed, fits and starts, throughout a weird liminal period.
Firstly there was a trip to howard's house in Dolgellau, fun times at the beach, with friends new and old and really new.
Rhian's birthday wales trip to Capel Curig, lots of rain, rum and me passing out to my own rapping.
Then I went to Bristol, to move some stuff into my new flat, and also to see Final Fantasy in Cardiff, at the Gate. What a truly great gig, shame me and Rhian had to leg it to the bus station, only for the bus to be late, late enough for us to have been able to not only catch the whole set, but also the exclusive outdoor acoustic set after. National express owe us big.

MOON
Basically the film is very entertaining, and is pretty awesome at putting any shitty existential crisis one might be having into a very lovely "man up, you could be a clone" context.
Without spoiling the film too much, the ending is a bit weak, and stops the film from being a "Stuff a White Person would like"

I would not, however, swap those mornings at the suspension bridge for anything.
Chasing a fox through Clifton village at 6 o'clock in the morning was, you know, weird. When it came down to it, first year delivered, and that final week was filled with a meloncholic sense of both elation and sadness, the end of an aeon. If I took one thing from that week, James' advice that bit rate is not that important was probably it.
Nothing quite compares to candle-lit, wine soaked Diplomacy sessions, whilst solving the worlds problems with clashing and intwined minds: producing mirrored/crucifix/garlic laced/silver/heart hilted super-weapons - good for all the enemies of fictional-fantastical protagonists; from medusa, through vampires, through voldemort.Tuesday, 26 May 2009
First Post: Sea-Hear
The aim is to stop at the end of the summer, but who knows. If it gets some love then it may continue.
So strictly speaking I haven't finished by exams, but I only have one left, and another two weeks to revise for it (will start tomorrow by the way) so I've been free to roam Bristol for a week. To be honest I've gotten a little bored, as everyone else has been pre-occuppied with revision. But I have enjoyed many a coffee at Woodes and many an hour reading at Brandon Hill Park. Needed the time I think, but now I need human interaction.
Sea-Hear
Today I bought the new British Sea Power album Man Of Aran. The album is a soundtrack to the 1934 film of the same name. It comes with an Audio CD, as well as a DVD of the film. So far I have only listened to the CD, and it is very good, easily one of the best soundtracks I've heard in recent memory.
The Full DVD listing : the following are the 3 options of soundtrack to complement the original theme.
- Studio Version in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Stereo.
- Original Edinburgh Film Festival live performance in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surroundand 2.0 Stereo.
- Bonus Soundtrack in 2.0 Stereo – an abstract ambient piece
literally as I wrote this with the CD on, the weather in Bristol turned from bright south-west sunshine to Aran-esque wind and rain.
But yeah, if anyone wants to get together and watch the film, just say so. I'll abstain from watching it, so everyone has fresh eyes.
